Wednesday, July 5

Wellness Walk. Scheduled for July 5  at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Meet at the upper level and choose a one, two or three-mile hike. Maps are available. Healthy living tips and mindfulness exercises to enhance your walk. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Free admission

The Cripple Creek City Council will meet on July 5 at 5:30 p.m. in the Cripple Creek Council Chambers. The meeting is available in-person and on  Zoom. An earlier joint work session will be held with the CC/V School Board at 4 p.m. regarding the issue of a sales tax election.

Symphony Above the Clouds.  The annual Symphony Above the Clouds will be held on July 5 at the Woodland Park Middle School’s football field, with the gates opening at 6:30 p.m. The concert will feature a variety of local acts, such as the Cari Dell band and the Woodland Park Wind Symphony, along with a Drone Light Show.

Shining Mountain Links Activity.  The Shining Mountain Golf Course and clubhouse bar in Woodland Park has kicked into full-gear for the 2023 season. Tee-times are available, starting at 8 a.m., weather permitting.  Conditions are excellent for this time of the year, and the facility has undergone many improvements. In addition, the driving range and practice chipping  and putting greens are open for practice. SM features  special trivia nights every Thursday, starting at 6:30 p.m. (including a food truck) and other special events for the public. Also, check out their special charity golf tournaments, benefitting key groups around the county. Farmers Market. This annual summer and fall tradition kicks into full-gear on North Street next to Memorial Park and occurs every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Our Vendors come from all over Colorado and provide a variety of products to choose from. Teller County Playgroup, hosted by Community Partnership at 701 Gold Hill Place in Woodland Park, is FREE to any Parent or Caregiver with children ages 5 & under. Older siblings welcome.
Come meet a great group of friends for you and your little one! Exchange wisdom and support with other parents while exploring the world with your child through music, movement, arts and crafts, free play, story-time, field trips, and themed structured activities. Meeting three times a week, Playgroup offers opportunities for developmental screenings, school readin​ess assessments, and information on local resources. Live Music. The Painted Bear gift shop in Green Mountain Falls will host  its summer music series, featuring live performers on Friday evenings throughout the summer from 5;30 to 7 p.m.  The music occurs outdoors (special arrangements are made in case of inclement weather) in the scenic, back patio area. Saturday, July 8

The Green Box Arts Festival. The 15th annual running of the Green Box Arts Festival, which  kicked off on June 30, continues until July 15. It features a variety of cultural performances, live music, classes, art displays, hikes and community events.  For more information, visit greenboxarts.org.

The Gold Camp Victorian Society will present Original Historical Gold Camp Trolley Tours again this summer. The tours, which kicked off on Saturday, May 27, continuing every Saturday through Labor Day weekend, with the exceptions of June 17th and August 12th. Each tour begins at 1 pm from the District Museum parking area in Cripple Creek. These 90-minute tours are led by our Victorian hostesses and feature many of the characters from Cripple Creek’s storied past. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. The Teller Rifles will sponsor a CCW Class on Saturday, 8 July at 10 am, at Victor Elks. It will be conducted by Bob Tyler & Randy Ford.

The class will be held at the Victor Elks Lodge and it will satisfy the class requirement for the Colorado state concealed carry permit.

You must be 21 years old to attend.

There will be 3 1/2 hours of classroom training followed by 1 to 2 hours of range shooting in the Elks indoor shooting range.

Bring your own handgun (.22LR only), ammo, and eye & ear protection.

If you don’t have your own handgun and can’t borrow one, let us know in advance so other arrangements can be made for you.

Summer Concerts on Gazebo Island. This popular outdoor concert series, held at the Gazebo Island in Green Mountain Falls, kicks off on July 10 from 6 to 8 p.m., with a performance by the Peak Big Band.  These concerts occur on Monday evenings through August 28. They are sponsored by the Ute Pass Chamber of Commerce.

 

The Victor Gold Rush Days, featuring a variety of games, contests, home tours, a parade and festive activities, is scheduled for July 14-16. The event celebrates 129 years of mining heritage in the district. For more information and for specific event times, visit the city of Victor’s website.

 

Chamber Golf Tourney.  The annual Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament, one of the organization’s more popular summer events, is slated for July 14 at the Shining Mountain Golf Course, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.  To register, visit the chamber website or call 719-687-9885.

Rocky Mountain Vibes Baseball Action. Mark your calendars for ‘Woodland Park Night’ with the Rocky Mountain Vibes!
