The Green Mountain Falls Board of Trustees will meet on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. at the GMF Town Hall. The trustees will hold a public hearing on their draft plan for regulating short-term rental properties (see related story in this week’s TMJ). The meeting is available in-person and on Zoom.
Chamber Business After Hours is Teller County’s largest networking event. All Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce members are encouraged to attend. Wednesday, Sept. 21
Wellness Walk. Scheduled for Sept. 21 at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Meet at the lower level and choose a one, two or three-mile hike. Maps are available. Healthy living tips and mindfulness exercises to enhance your walk. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Free admission.

Thursday, Sept. 22

The Teller County Commissioners will meet on Sept. 22 at 9:15 a.m. in the Centennial Building in Cripple Creek. The commissioners are scheduled to have their final hearing regarding a proposed rubbish ordinance, the first revision of these rules in two-plus decades (see related story in this week’s TMJ). Friday, Sept. 23
Tee-off Time. The Shining Mountain Golf Course is still open daily for the 2022 season, weather permitting. The 18-hole course, the driving range and putting/chipping area are open for play/practice, along with the Shining Mountain bar. Carts are available, but the cart-path-only rule for the season will be in effect to protect the turf. For more information, and to make tee-times, call 719-687-7587. Farmers Market. Held every Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through the end of September in downtown Woodland Park in Memorial Park. Our Vendors come from all over Colorado and provide a variety of products to choose from, including, Colorado fruits and vegetables, fresh baked bread, honey, coffee, food trucks, and more. We have space for 100 vendors, providing a large variety of products.
Golfing for a great cause. A fund-raiser golf tourney, aimed at benefitting the golf program for the Woodland Park High School, is scheduled for Sept. 23, starting at 11 a.m. The tournament, featuring a scramble format, will be held at the Shining Mountain Golf Course. Saturday, Sept. 24
Two Mile High Club Aspen Tours. Scheduled from Sept. 24 to Oct. 2. Come up the mountain to Cripple Creek this fall to see the colorful aspen and buy some donkey snacks to help the Two Mile High Club take care of our beloved donkeys! The Aspen Tours this year are again self-guided and can be enjoyed from the privacy and safety of your personal vehicle. Information packets with a map, script, and swag are available for a $10 donation and can be found at the Heritage Center on Hwy 67 above Cripple Creek and also at the Victor Gold Camp Artist Co-op (100 S 2nd St) in Victor.Teller County has some of the most spectacular aspen viewing areas in the State of Colorado. Drive to the Gold Camp on Hwy 67 and tour both the communities of Cripple Creek and Victor via Hwy 67 and Co Rd 82. Take Co Rd 821 between Victor and Cripple Creek to have a spectacular view of the operations at Newmont CC&V Gold Mine. The drive is a circular route so no matter where you start, you will end up back where you started. The Gold Belt Scenic Byway is one of the most breathtaking routes in all of Colorado and definitely worth the trip, whether you take the backcountry gravel route or the paved scenic route. Visit all the great shops, restaurants, and museums or try your luck in one of the many casinos. Maybe even stay a couple of nights to really take in all that the Gold Camp has to offer.
Oktoberfest. It’s Round Two for a three-weekend Oktoberfest festival at 110 Reserve in Woodland Park, featuring a spree of events, live music, Oktoberfest food treats, an authentic European atmosphere, dancing and much more. The Oktoberfest at 110 Reserve continues for Sept. 24 and Sept. 25 and then concludes on Oct. 1-2.
