You’ve read the Super Bowl 50 predictions of some of our local “celebrities” here in the TMJ, but what do some of the more recognizable sports figures and other celebrities predict?
Country singer Vince Gill: Broncos. “Oh, gosh, I don’t know. I’ve been picking games weekly with some guys on this sports talk radio show here in town and I’m one game out of first place. So I’m going to wait and see who he picks and pick the other team. It’s either win it all or lose it all. But sentimentally everybody would love to see Peyton win, how gracious he’s been as an athlete, not a lot of grandstanding or notice-me kind of personality. He’s a great guy and I’d love to see him go out winning.”
Pro hockey defenseman John Scott: Panthers. “Geez, I don’t’ know. I don’t know. That’s a good question. I kind of want the Broncos to win just so Manning can go out [with a win] but I think the Panthers are going to win. They’ve got a good team.”
Boxer Manny Pacquiao: Broncos. “Peyton Manning is a great competitor and with the possibility that this could be his last game I think he will be an inspiration to the Broncos to win and to end Peyton’s career as a world champion. He is certainly an inspiration to me.”
Presidential candidate Donald Trump: Broncos. Donald Trump told “Face the Nation” host John Dickerson that he thinks the Denver Broncos will win Super Bowl 50. “Carolina is sort of a hot team,” Trump said. “Their quarterback is doing great.” “You know, I’ve always liked Peyton Manning,” he continued. “He’s a very good guy. I know him.” “I have to go with the guy that I know and I like. And I like the other team. The other team looks fantastic.”
The 2016 Puppy Bowl puppies: Panthers. Because they’re cats! And because they hate Donald Trump.
