“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure.” Helen Keller
Ah, the New Year, a time to make resolutions, a time to try new things and time to fail or succeed, the choice is ours. Life is all about choices and consequences, good, bad or indifferent. I usually don’t make resolutions for the New Year. I try and live that life all year long in an attempt to continually improve myself. Good luck with your resolutions should you decide to do something to make yourself a better person, or better yet, resolve to do something to make the world a better place.
The Year in Review. I think one of the high points of 2015 was people’s pain and disdain when the producers of the Walking Dead tricked, or attempted to trick everyone into thinking that Glen had been eaten by zombies! Oh, the humanity! Thankfully enough Glen escaped the ravages of the flesh chomping zombies and restored everyone’s faith in miracles, or at least cinematic miracles. The only reason I consider it a high point is the amount of attention it got from people and the drama and discussion the situation created for the Walking Dead fans. I had other things to do, like put burrs under the saddles of all my, would be, idealistic detractors.
Another high point is of course the selfie stick…..what would we do without them? Finally! We get in focus selfies without the danger of spraining our shoulders while stretching our arms as far as humanly possible to get everyone in the picture. Bet the inventor is happy though.
But the real award goes to our political front, as with all things consumer related, the stumping and political posturing has started earlier than ever. We have a potential convict running for office, I refer to Hillary Clinton, who is probably guilty of committing breaches in National security that would have landed any one of us in jail for a lengthy period of time. She is somehow immune to the laws to which you or I would have been held accountable, had we committed such acts of disregard.
I think the really serious award for disregard to National Security goes to Barrack Obama and the CIA for funding ISIS/ISIL/the Mujahedeen/al Qaeda or whatever the latest moniker for those who are in love with all things Muslim and Sharia in nature. These little operations are just a continuation of the destabilization of the Middle East. The Arab mind is considerably different from the American mind in that Arabs don’t do well without a very strong leader who will kill them if they don’t fall in line. I know, we hate despots. But until you study the Middle East and how it has operated for centuries don’t jump to conclusions. Read about it and make an informed conclusion. They love conspiracy and everyone wants to be in power. But the war ended in Iraq, thank you Obama, oh, wait, no it didn’t. We have ISIS/ISIL defeated and on the run, thank you Obama, oh wait, no we didn’t. I guess Obama failed to read Poole’s rules of combat. One of these rules are “Professional soldiers are very predictable, but the world is full of amateurs.” This was portrayed during the cold war in which we were subjected to, or subjected the Soviets to numerous wars of attrition in which amateur warriors and guerilla forces chipped away at the opposing force until they just gave up. So ISIS is b-string….so were the Viet Cong.
The one that I really love is Obama’s desire to import Syrian refugees which will no doubt have terrorist amongst them, while giving more arms to our enemies enabling them to commit more terrorist attacks and using those self-same attacks to justify more gun control laws when the laws on the books already don’t work. In the last couple of months over 60 ISIS have been arrested here in the US but we haven’t heard much about that from the lame stream media. So the bad guys are already amongst us what’s a few more. As we know, gun laws aren’t about guns but it is about control. A true “American” president would be urging people to buy guns and learn how to use those weapons to protect themselves. If this country had any real leadership we wouldn’t have nearly as many problems today. But okay, Obama wanted to fundamentally change America, wonder how that pen and phone strategy are working. I have seen the assault weapons ban of 2015 and absolutely loved what the dems are trying, it makes me giggle. Seeing as they are so bent on gun control laws maybe we should outlaw heroine and meth too? Get that stuff off the street!
So much for the past. Looking to the future, I promise to rankle your fur in the coming year in one way or another in an attempt to get you to think. As Helen Keller said “People do not like to think. If one thinks, one must reach conclusions. Conclusions are not always pleasant.” Unpleasant conclusions are reached by generally realistic thinkers. Reality sucks for most people, idealism is so much easier to swallow. But truth is the pill everyone says they want, it’s up to you if you are man or woman enough to swallow the truth when presented.
I read on Facebook “I see our country becoming ever more wicked, and the sheeple call it progress.” So I merely wish to open people’s eyes to the contradiction that our own government has become. The government helps the forward movement of progress to “enlighten” people, because the government cannot continue to become ever more oppressive, ever more controlling, and ever more greedy and evil at your expense without your agreement and cooperation.
I will pray daily for a strong leader to rise from within our ranks to be a true president, whose eyes are turned upward and outward. His intent, the regeneration of American greatness and not the mamby pamby way our leaders have gone about being failures today. I must say though that the field of candidates we see spouting tripe from the TVs these days leave much to be desired.
I will work hard to be a leader within my family, teach the youngest moral character and values founded upon the inherent right and wrong that is in nature. I will read them the constitution, though they be too young to understand, I shall explain it to them in the role of a patriarch who is concerned for the future of his children and grandchildren. I will stand true to the American Dream and do everything I can to pass on the ethics required to achieve a decent way of life. Offering peace and charity to those who offer it in return.
Robert Kennedy once said “There are people in every time and every land who want to stop history in its tracks. They fear the future, mistrust the present, and invoke the security of the comfortable past which, in fact, never existed.” On that note, we have rested upon the laurels of a greater generation for far too long. To know where our children are going, we must look to where they came from. Teach your children well in the coming year and make them understand, we are ever only safe for the moment, and if we ignore the moment, the moment may be stolen leaving us subjects to other’s ill intentions. Be free my friends!
So as we hail the new year let us be unlike our politicians and put aside avarice and self-interest. A toast to you my fellow patriots “Here’s to stealing, cheating, fighting and drinking. If you cheat, may you cheat death, if you steal, may you steal a woman’s heart, if you fight, may you fight for a brother’s liberty, and if you drink may you drink with me!”
Something even a blind person could see, “Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.” Helen Keller
