Make your picks, compete for a great prize and become a RR music critic for our newspaper.

With the graying of our fine abode, we abound with many residents who remember the golden or not so golden years of rock music, whether it consists of R and B, punk, progressive rock, pop, heavy metal, folk, alternative, disco or whatever.

Within the next week, the 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Class will be announced, showcasing many acts that will trigger a few memories, or even a few horror stories of what you did wrong as a rebellious youth or parent.

Now is your chance to make your inductee picks among the 15 nominees that were announced several months ago. (Make six picks). If you can successfully pick the correct ones (picks must be made prior to Dec. 17), you will win a special prize by TMJ, and more importantly, you will win acclaimed notoriety in our famous paper and may even get a chance to be a TMJ music critic, on occasion.

Also, as an added challenge, provide a short paragraph of your favorite nominee (of the 2016 class) that you feel belongs in the RR Hall of Fame.

The list of 2016 RR Hall of Fame nominees in alphabetical order: Chicago, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, The Cars, Chaka Khan, Chic, The JB’s, Janet Jackson, Los Lobos, Steve Miller, N.W.A., Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths, The Spinners and Yes.

The top five fan picks, according to an on-line official poll that closed early this week: Chicago, Yes, Cars, Deep Purple and Steve Miller.
*Please be advised the on-line fan poll isn’t the tally that really counts. The final decision is made by approximately 700 music insiders, critics and performers.

To participate in this contest, make your inductee picks ( about six are chosen by the RR Hall of Fame every year) and compile a short paragraph on your favorite nominee and why (if you want to, as this paragraph is not mandatory) and send to editor@mountainjackpot.com.

Don’t forget to send us your name and contact information. Any questions, call 719-687-0803.

Good luck and let’s rock.
