New Ace Hardware Store Opens in Florissant – Catherine Mahrholz

The long wait for a hardware and lumber retail outlet in southern Teller has finally ended.

A 5,000 square foot-facility, located at 1920 Teller County Road 31, just north of Hwy 24 in Florissant and once occupied by the Hutchison’s Lumber Company, has found new life as a branch store location for Cripple Creek Ace Hardware.

Maurice “Mur” Woods, Jr., the proprietor of the Cripple Creek Ace Hardware store, has seized the opportunity to provide rural residents and ranchers in the area a much needed hardware store. He has plans to expand the operation in the near future to include lumber as well. Woods envisions a “one-stop shopping” experience so customers can “buy the screws and the lumber” for whatever project they have in mind.

The new hardware store opened for business on Monday Nov. 16, fully stocked and ready for customers.

Customers will find paint, tools, key making service and sundry hardware, including a vast assortment of screws, bolts and other hardware items individually priced in bins and ready for purchase.

Staffed by local residents familiar with the rigors and requirements of rural mountain life, the Florissant Ace Hardware store invites you to visit them for all your hardware needs. Special orders also can be processed quickly because the huge Ace Hardware Warehouse for seven western states is conveniently located in Colorado Springs.

Woods promises to provide his customers with the best possible service for all their hardware needs.

Florissant Ace Hardware is open seven days a week. For more information, call 719-748-3367 or visit them on-line.
