The Ridiculosisty of It All
“Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths -Theoretic politicians, who have patronized this species of government, have erroneously supposed that by reducing mankind to a perfect equality in their political rights, they would at the same time be perfectly equalized and assimilated in their possessions, their opinions, and their passions.” James Madison, , Federalist No. 10, “The Utility of the Union as a Safeguard Against Domestic Faction and insurrection (continued),” Daily Advertiser, November 22, 1787
The ridiculosity of it all! Heard that one the other day in a local market, a man decided to get on his soap box for everyone in the checkout line. I figured “ridiculosity” was one for my lexicon. Seems ridiculosity is relatively new to the American Lexicon. Guess it is used kind of like this…..”So many politicians are on the take these days you would not believe the ridiculosity of it all.” Now I want to see a website called ridiculosity.com and we can go there to see the people of Wal-Mart and just anything that has a “ridiculosity” rating. Nice thing about the American language, it is alive and well and sprouting new verbiage every day. But, there are those who believe that we live in a democracy. I pledge allegiance to the flag….finish it. THINK ABOUT IT. RESEARCH IT.
I offended someone recently, a reader, who thinks I am a journalist and lectured me by way of an email on journalism. Funny part is that in his correspondence he made all the mistakes for which I was lambasted. The article for which I was chastised was “Opines and Behinds” which was related to the article on the raid of the Republic of Texas Congress. I thought it was a hoot to say the least that people can be insulted by very small and subtle things.
Me, I ain’t no journalist! I r a columnist and with that in mind, I trample things and people’s feelings…..but that’s what opinions generally do to others. When others give their opinion, I take it just for that, an opinion. I am an adult, I can accept or reject their opinion as I see fit. I am also not the editor, nor do I have anything to do with the inner workings, advertising, hiring, firing, misspellings, improper grammar, censorship, nor do I get to make decisions on who or what to publish.
The aforementioned person also explained to me how we as American’s are so lucky as to have a progressive, democratic, and flexible constitution. Unfortunately, this same Constitution says in Article IV, Section. 4. The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government……WHAT? Guess when a democrat gets elected we have grounds for redress (first amendment), or we could really get things going and file a lawsuit. But many of us realize that Republicans and Democrats are just names for a club of the same goons. While many of the tenants of the original progressive movement were noble, the current progressive movement looks more like a march to socialism, with a whole lot of fascism in the mix. “Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power.” – Benito Mussolini
Then I was asked to very specifically describe how our good President had violated the constitution or anyone’s civil rights. The Supreme Court has ruled in Noel Canning v. NLRB, No. 12-1115, and found that President Obama had indeed violated the constitution in his recess appointments. The decision was unanimous.
Another, Senator Ron Wyden was warning American citizens; The federal government is spying on us in ways that violate our privacy and would alarm us if we knew more, adding that he can’t tell us anything more because the details are classified. Snowden blew the whistle and was declared a traitor. Again a matter of opinion on Snowden, we still await the verdict. Then we have violations of both the Ninth and Tenth Amendments which deal with limiting the federal government and reaffirming that powers not specifically enumerated in the Constitution reside with the states and individuals. President Obama has been so aggressive in expanding federal power—e.g., health care, environmental restrictions, marriage, etc.—that he has singlehandedly ignited a Tenth Amendment backlash, in which states, and individuals, are increasingly challenging his unconstitutional overreach.
The second amendment violation is a conspiracy best seller. The Obama Administration attempted to prove that most of the weapons going to the cartels in Mexico were coming from the United States. To do this the BATFE was arranging for weapons dealers in the United States to sell guns to illegals. One of the weapons sold under orders of the BATFE was used to murder Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. Operation Fast and Furious was a fiasco and embarrassment. That’s the beauty of a “flexible” constitution. Persons of power can run unchecked because flexible means bendable, so let’s just bend the rules and claim executive privilege. Leaders are responsible for all that their people do or fail to do….Of course most things are just too secret for us to know, it’s for our own good. Ordering the execution of an American citizen, al Awlaki and his son without due process, at least any due process that we are privy to, the guy could have been tried in absentia. The ridiculosity of course, continues.
Here’s some more ridiculosity to consider, Canada’s Top Ten List of America’s Stupidity…
Only in America…..
…..could politicians talk about the greed of the rich at a $35,000.00 a plate campaign fund-raising event.
…..could people claim that the government still discriminates against black Americans when they have a black President, a black Attorney General and roughly 20 percent of the federal workforce is black while only 14 percent of the population is black. 40+ percent of all federal entitlements go to black Americans – three times the rate that go to whites, five times the rate that goes to Hispanics!
…..could they have had the two people most responsible for our tax code, Timothy Geithner (the head of the Treasury Department) and Charles Rangel (who once ran the Ways and Means Committee), BOTH turn out to be tax cheats who are in favor of higher taxes.
… can they have terrorists kill people in the name of Allah and have the media primarily react by fretting that Muslims might be harmed by the backlash.
…..would they make people who want to legally become American citizens wait for years in their home countries and pay tens of thousands of dollars for the privilege, while they discuss letting anyone who sneaks into the country illegally just ‘magically’ become American citizens.
…..could the people who believe in balancing the budget and sticking by the country’s Constitution be thought of as “extremists.”
…..could you need to present a driver’s license to cash a check or buy alcohol, but not to vote.
……could people demand the government investigate whether oil companies are gouging the public because the price of gas went up when the return on equity invested in a major U.S. oil company (Marathon Oil) is less than half of a company making tennis shoes (Nike).
…..could the government collect more tax dollars from the people than any nation in recorded history, still spend a Trillion dollars more than it has per year – for total spending of $7 million PER MINUTE, and complain that it doesn’t have nearly enough money.
…..could the rich people – who pay 86 percent of all income taxes – be accused of not paying their “fair share” by people who don’t pay any income taxes at all.
So if once again I have insulted anyone by airing things publicly….Well frankly Charlotte, I could give a damn. I am who I am, and I barely have time to write these columns. Go research my allegations and innuendo for yourself. Prove me wrong for yourself, but educate yourself….before you get caught up in the ridiculosity of it all!
P.S.: Jade Helm 16 kicks off this week….I am gonna watch.
