Heritage Center Announces Summer Hours and Walking Tours
Manitou Springs, CO – (June 10, 2012) – The Manitou Springs Heritage Center will be open to
visitors through the end of September from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Thursday through Monday. The
newest exhibit at the Center is “Charles Christopher Parry: King of Colorado Botany” celebrating
the 150th anniversary of Parry’s 1862 botany expedition and ascent of Pikes Peak and featuring
contemporary herbarium specimens collected on the mountain and examples of botanical
watercolors of the era.
Historic Walking Tours are also scheduled this summer on Wednesday and Saturday evenings at
5:30 p.m. (other times can be arranged by special appointment). The guided tours highlight the
people and places that made downtown Manitou Springs unique and take approximately 90
minutes. Tickets are $10 per person. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Tours include
sampling the Mineral Springs and a free copy of the “Manitou Springs Walking Tour” booklet.
Space is limited, so advance reservations are encouraged and reservation holders should plan to
meet their guide at the Heritage Center approximately 10 minutes before start time.
