Primary Election Deadline.  The deadline for returning ballots for the primary election is June 30 at 7 p.m. Registered voters have four drop box outlets to choose from in Teller County and can also vote in-person at the Woodland Park Public Library. For lower Ute Pass residents, the closest drop-box outlet is located outside the Green Mountain Falls Town Hall. Summer Gaming and Tourism Edition. This popular issue, published annually by TMJ news, is now available at local stores, businesses, retail outlets and at casinos.  The special edition features the latest information on local gaming activity, casino updates and information on special events and festivals, along with tourism and area recreation happenings. Wednesday, July 1

Wellness Walk. Scheduled for July 1 at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Meet at the upper level and choose a one, two or three-mile hike. Maps are available. Healthy living tips and mindfulness exercises are available to enhance your walk. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Free admission.  

The Cripple Creek City Council will meet on July 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the CC Council Chambers.

Thursday, July 2

TOPS. Takes Off Pound Sensibly. Meets every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. in the Church in the Wildwood (10585 Ute Pass Ave.) Green Mountain Falls, Co 80819. Affordable, effective weight loss.

The Woodland Park City Council will meet on July 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the WP Council Chambers next to city hall. The meeting is available in-person or on Zoom.

Friday, July 3

Farmers Market. The Woodland Park Farmers Market has kicked off for the season.  This popular event takes place Fridays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from June through September in Memorial Park on Henrietta and Center Street. It is part of the Teller County Farmers Market Association organization which provides a forum for sales of local produce and items associated with agriculture, garden & food. The association, originally formed in 1990 as Woodland Park Farmers Market, is operated by volunteers and administered by a Board of Directors.  It oversees two markets: Woodland Park Farmers’ Market (Summer) and Woodland Park Farmers Market Holiday Market. The Woodland Park Farmers Market is a family-friendly event, open to everybody. The market remains neutral in all matters. political, social and religious. Shining Mountain Opening. The Shining Mountain golf course is now officially open for the 2026 season.  Contrary to past years, this season will mark the first time the links property is under the ownership and management of the city of Woodland Park.  Check with the new Shining Mountain Facebook page, via the city of Woodland Park, this summer or call 719-687-7587 or check with information at the SM pro shop. Many key tournaments and events are scheduled in early summer. Chamonix Casino & Resort Concerts. Upcoming music concerts at Chamonix Casino & Resort in Cripple Creek continue through the summer of 2026. The lineup includes major tribute acts and dinner shows.  Many of these events feature dinner and show packages. For more information, visit the Chamonix website.   

Grand Opening.  Don’t miss early opening specials for the new Pine Gables Tavern in Green Mountain Falls, a revived version of the old Blue Moose Tavern.  The Gables, which has been part of the legacy of GMF for decades, has reopened with its original name and a familiar group of operators.

Saturday, July 4

250th Celebration of America.  Throughout the country, celebrations highlight this year’s special Independence Day celebration, honoring the country’s 250th birthday. This is especially true in Teller County, as a variety of communities, including Woodland Park and Cripple Creek, will feature special July 4th events. It also will mark the 18th annual kick-off of the Green Box Arts festival in Green Mountain Falls, capped by a parade and a variety of performances at the town’s Farm Stand. Upcoming 

Green Box Arts Festival.  Starting on July 4 and extending through July 19, the town of Green Mountain Falls abounds with more than 100 events and activities associated with the 18th season of the Green Box Arts Festival, co-founded by Chris Keesee and Larry Keigwin.  Mosto of these include various performances, art displays, classes, hiking and art trips and community forums. DDA Micro-Grant Program. The Woodland Park Downtown Development Authority is pleased to relaunch its Micro-Grant program for 2026. Grants are open to businesses and homeowners within the DDA boundaries of Woodland Park. The Micro-Grant Program is designed to provide financial assistance for eligible projects that meet the Program’s eligibility requirements.  objectives and purposes of the DDA within the District, such as stimulating economic vitality. For comprehensive information about the Downtown Development Authority’s 2026 Micro-Grant Program, including the eligibility requirements and how to apply, please visit the city’s website.

Community Concerts at Ute Pass Cultural Center.  FREE thanks to our sponsor, Park State Bank & Trust.
