Colorado Ski Country Snow Pounding Sparks Season Extension

Significant March snowfall has continued across Colorado with ski areas all over the state receiving double digit snowfall in recent days. Colorado’s statewide snowpack is 139 percent of average, which has allowed many ski areas to announce season extensions. A complete list of announced extensions is below.

Ski areas offer powder skiing and snowboarding lessons for guests that may feel intimidated by the snow depth or those that want to brush up on their powder technique. Conditions across the state are fantastic for those not interested in skiing or riding powder as well with a great base for groomers and corduroy.

The southern and western areas of the state received the deepest totals from this storm cycle with Wolf Creek reporting 45 inches in 48 hours. Silverton recorded 44 inches while Telluride, Kendall Mountain, Purgatory, Powderhorn and Hesperus welcomed 32, 28, 24, 21 and 14 inches respectively.

In the central and northern mountains, Aspen Snowmass enjoyed up to 17 inches over the last two days, Steamboat measured a foot of snow and Monarch saw nine inches.

Closer to the Front Range Winter Park led the way with 16 inches. Cooper welcomed 15 inches, Eldora received 14, Granby Ranch saw 13 inches, Loveland and Echo each measured a foot and Arapahoe Basin had 11 inches on the snow stake.
