Historic Byway Run a Great Success

Gold Belt Tour Scenic and Historic Byway, Association would like to thank all the great businesses and people for helping make our first RUN FOR THE BYWAY event a success. The HOGBACKS TWILIGHT CHALLENGE was held on September 10th with 58 runners of all ages.

Thanks to Sunflower Bank for being our title sponsor, and to City of Cañon City, Pueblo Toyota
and Newmont CC/V for being Gold sponsors, while Hometown Real Estate, Fremont Paving/RediMix and Royal Gorge Bridge and Park followed up with Silver sponsorships. We also appreciated our Bronze sponsors: Territory Electric, National Scenic Byway Foundation, CDOT byway program, Bubba’s Sporting Goods, Twin Enviro Services, Avalanche Excavating, Matthews Brothers Electric, Rocky Mountain Soccer Camp, Fremont County Historical Society Jim’s Tire, Siloam Stone and St. Nicholas Hotel.

Winners for our event were MEN OVER 18: 1st Rich Hadley, 2nd Blake Osborn, and 3rd Ken Burger. WOMEN OVER 18: 1st Joanna Mcintyre, 2nd Tracey Refuse, and 3rd Wendy Conley.
For MALE under 18: 1st Tristan Merlino (10), 2nd Tyler Merlino (8) and 3rd Trystan Archuleta (12). Under 18 FEMALE: 1st Olivia Ley (9), 2nd Francine Farmer(6) and 3rd Keta Farmer (7). Congratulations to all of you.

A special Thank you to Fremont County Schools Wellness program for signing up 7 teams, you really helped us have a successful event. Team winners were: First place..Team #5, Scott Witkowsky, Chris McIntyre, Marcy Epperson and Jeremy Ley. Second place..Team #2, Jolene Phillips, Charla Wellborn, Jessica Andrews and Elaine Eckstrom. Third Place.. Team #1, Kaylee Pacheco, Kristi Elliott, Sarah Ley and Elysa Engle. Way to go!!

We truly appreciate all that helped, sponsored and ran, it made for a successful event. See you next year for the 2nd Annual RUN FOR THE BYWAY.
