Janell Duncan and Emily Hilton are happy to welcome new people to their studio regardless of their level of experience at practicing yoga; however students under 16 will be required to provide proof of parental permission if taking classes without a parent present. The studio has room for groups as large as 15 people

Both Janell and Emily received their training in Colorado Springs and have over 200 hours of instruction. They specialize in Vinyasa yoga techniques. Vinyasa yoga focuses on the coordination of breath and movement and it is a very physically active form of yoga. This style of yoga is great for beginners and people who want to focus on flexibility, recovery from injury, body awareness and relaxation.

They also offer private Reiki healing sessions with Janell that are designed to relieve stress reduce and promote relaxation and healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.

Another alternative offered by The Yoga Room is the ancient practice of sound healing. Sound healing uses vibrational sound to help reduce stress, alter consciousness and create a deep sense of peace, well being and better health. Healing Sound has also been shown to be effective in the healing process for cancer patients by reducing stress and aiding in pain management. The technique employs the use of gongs, chimes and Tibetan singing bowls. The sound frequency known as that of Perfection impacts the sympathetic nervous system as your brain waves synchronize to the vibrations of the sounds. The harmonic vibrations engage the relaxation reflex and slow down the respiratory, brain and heart rate and disrupt the pain reflex creating a deep sense of well being.

You may wish to share a class with your spouse and The Yoga Room can set up partner sessions if you like. They also offer family sessions for those who prefer to enjoy yoga as a family group.
