Manitou Springs rescue officials got a scare last weekend, when a 13-year-old boy incurred a bad fall near the steep Manitou Incline route, often regarded as a bail-out trek to Barr trail.
Witnesses said the boy was quickly coming down the popular trail, when he tumbled, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette. Officials closed down the frequently used hiking area, which now serves as an alternative to the first severasl miles of Barr Trail, for two hours. Representatives of the Manitou Springs Fire Department and the Crystal Park Volunteer Fire Department worked to bring the youth down safely.
This is the first accident on this route in recent memory.
