Cheers and Merry Christmas from TMJ’s Denver Broncos Playoff Sleigh, as we head to the North Pole in style.
But along the way, a key stop will be made to Kansas City.
Yes, if you get tired of the relatives and lousy jokes and stories, then tune into the NFL’s latest Christmas charade with the Denver Broncos squaring off with their good friends, the Kansas City Chiefs, in Arrowhead Stadium. Game time is 6:15 p.m. on Christmas day.
We certainly hope Santa will be nice and deliver the Broncos another pivotal victory that will assure their status as the Number One Seed in the AFC.
As part of a permanent annual tradition since 2020, Christmas Time is also NFL Football Time, an occasion marked by fierce inner-division rivalries to lighten up Santa’s greetings. Besides the Broncos and Chiefs game, earlier on Christmas Day, the Dallas Cowboys will play the Washington Commanders.
The Chiefs and Broncos match is a classic feud. Historically, the Chiefs have gotten the better end of the deal, with 74 wins, compared to 58 for the Broncs, since they started waging war against each other in the early 1960s. The rivalry has experienced a dominance by both teams at certain times. For example, the Chiefs had a winning streak of 16 games, until Oct. 2023, following the retirement of Broncos former QB Peyton Manning. In recent outings, the Broncos have fared much better and beat the Chiefs at home by a 22-16 margin on Nov. 16 in a definite thriller. This game helped cement the Broncos winning streak and actually served as the opening saga of the tragic fall of KC this year.
The bad blood between these two teams continues, despite any statistics. However, Patrick Mahomes, the star quarterback for KC, is out for the year. Still, KC would like nothing more than to play the role as the ugly Chiefs, ready to scalp the Broncos’ quest for playoff glory.
This weekend more great games are in store, as the NFL season reaches a mini-conclusion.
