The Green Mountain Falls Board of Trustees will meet at the GMF Town Hall on April 16 starting at 7 p.m. A swearing-in ceremony will occur for the newly-elected members of the GMF Board of Trustees. The meeting will be available in-person and on Zoom.
Business After Hours. Scheduled for April 16 at the Woodland Professional Building (400 W. Midland Avenue). The Woodland Park Chamber Business After Hours is Teller County’s largest networking event. All Greater Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce members are encouraged to attend. Take advantage of this opportunity to network and catch up with your friends, clients and customers plus meet new members in an informal setting. Business After Hours is a great way to share information about your business and learn about other members. Fun, food, drinks and door prizes.

Magic: The Gathering. Come play with us! Bring your decks, bring your cards and your mats, and come battle at the Rampart Library District, 218 East Midland Avenue from 4 to 6 p.m. on select nights. It is open to teens and young adults, who visit the teen room at the library. The next gathering is scheduled for April 16. Interested in learning. Someone will be available to teach you the basics.
Wednesday, April 17
Wellness Walk. Scheduled for April 17 at the Garden of the Gods Visitor Center at 9 a.m. Meet at the upper level and choose a one, two or three-mile hike. Maps are available. Healthy living tips and mindfulness exercises to enhance your walk. Dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of water. Free admission
The Cripple Creek City Council will meet on April 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the CC Council Chambers. The meeting will be available in-person and online.
Thursday, April 18
TOPS. Takes Off Pounds Sensibly. Meets every Thursday morning at 9 a.m. in the basement of Church in the Wildwood (10585 Ute Pass Ave.) Green Mountain Falls, CO 80819. Affordable, effective weight-loss.
The Woodland Park City Council will meet on April 18 at 6:30 p.m. in the WP Council Chambers, next to city hall. The meeting will be available in-person and on Zoom.
Friday, April 19
Live theater. The Lightbulb Theatre Company production of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” will occur on April 19 and 20 at the Dickson Auditorium at Woodland Park High School. The performance was originally scheduled for mid-March. Tickets are $15 and available at the door or online at lightbulbtheatre.co. Showtime is 6 p.m.
New Casino and Hotel. Chamonix Casino and Hotel, Cripple Creek’s new mega addition, which features about 300 rooms, and a spree resort-like amenities, such as a rooftop pool and spa, is now open for business in the initial stage. The Chamonix, part of Bronco Billy’s, features about 250 slots and table games. Check out the games and amazing lobby and the Chamonix Bistro. This is the first stage of a $300 million development, the largest project ever undertaken in Cripple Creek. It will encompass a 500,000-plus square-foot area, when fully completed. Student Art Show and Award Ceremony. A Student Art Show, sponsored by the Mountain Artists of Teller County, will continue at the Galleria of the Woodland Park Public Library through May 1, 2024. This show was open to all middle school, high school, private schools and home-schooled students in all of Teller County. And, for the first time, the Lake George Charter School were included! The show has been a showcase for our highly talented young people and the public has expressed great surprise and appreciation for it for many years now. Everyone is encouraged to come see the art on display. In addition, awards will be presented on Saturday, April 20, starting at 2pm at the Library (downstairs). Winners must be present to receive monetary Awards (or have a parent or teacher present to accept).

History Talk. Scheduled at Cripple Creek Heritage Center (9283 S. Hwy. 67, right across the highway from the Mollie Kathleen Mine) on April 27, starting at 11 a.m. The subject is “Mountain Men” with historian Ken Valles. This interesting program covers famous mountain men of the early 19th century, using slides and movie clips; Jim Bridger, John Colter, Kit Carson, Jedediah Smith and more. There will be demos of some of their gear, plus a display of books, movies, furs, teeth and claws. Join us for this historic account of bravery in the wilderness. Active Shooter Training. Sponsored by the Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce and part of their Lunch and Learn Series. It is scheduled for May 2 at the Ute Pass Cultural Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The purpose of this event is to prepare employees/employers how to handle the threat of an Active Shooter in the Workplace. The class will teach employees to participate in their own survival, while leading others to safety. Though no one can guarantee success in this type of situation, this set of skills will greatly increase the odds of survival should anyone face this form of disaster. Coffee Chats. Come have coffee, donuts, and chat with other people in the area. (This is your excuse to go make more local friends). This event, held in the Colorado room of the Woodland Park Public Library, is held the first Friday of the month from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The next Colorado Chats is scheduled for May 5.
