“yes” vote on ballot initiative 3A in support of Cripple Creek/ Victor children and the schools that serve them.

To Whom It May Concern:
I am asking for your “yes” vote on ballot initiative 3A in support of Cripple Creek/ Victor children and the schools that serve them.
In the past 5 years, the State of Colorado has decreased funding to our local schools by over $1,000,000. There has also been a drop in local property tax revenues to the district of approximately 16 percent, due primarily to the drop in gold prices.
Our school district has been carefully and conservatively managed, but it can no longer absorb these losses in revenue without cuts to personnel, salaries or benefits. This will result in a downward spiral, starting with the loss of teachers and programs, which in turn will result in the loss of students.
With your help, 3A will serve to raise $775,000 so that our district can continue to attract and retain outstanding classroom teachers, and expand our vocational learning and advanced placement classes.
We are fortunate in this district that about 85% of the increased revenue will come from the gold mine and casinos. Only 15% will come from homeowners. For an average home in this district, the tax increase will only be about $3 per month, and all the new money will go directly to the school district.
I know many of you, like me, are frustrated with National and State politics, but I hope you won’t let your frustration keep you from voting to support our local students.
I ask for your yes vote on 3A.

Thank you,

Amanda McGregor
