Gold Camp Christmas – December 8 – 9, 2012

Christmas in Cripple Creek & Victor is a special time of year.  When bells are ringing and carolers are singing, it is unmistakably Christmas in the Gold Camp.  This year’s theme, “The Sounds of Christmas,” is so very fitting as our communities resonate with all those festive sounds that fill the air with holiday spirit. As our communities are transformed by festive displays and fun holiday events that reflect this theme, we invite you to join us.

Holiday activities will kick off on November 23rd with the nightly Gold Camp Christmas Holiday Headframe Lighting.  Take a drive (with your favorite Christmas tunes playing) on a self-guided tour through our area as our mine headframes are decorated with large Christmas light displays.  Would you prefer a guided tour?  Then be sure to check out the detailed schedule of events for the time and date for the guided tour over the main event weekend.

While activities will be happening all month long, our main event weekend is packed full of fun activities that are too good to miss!  Stop by the Sugar Plum Gift Shop and the Christmas Bazaar for that perfect gift, or visit the Elf Emporium where you can find items made by local crafters! Decorated Christmas trees, available for purchase through the Live Tree Auction, will be on display for your enjoyment and holiday decorating inspiration.  Don’t miss our Christmas Parade with appearances from Santa, Mrs. Claus, as well as several parade participants that will be showing off their interpretation of this year’s theme.  Festive activities for children include gift making, crafts, a scavenger hunt, skating around the Christmas Tree, pin the bells on the steeple, and numerous opportunities to whisper Christmas wishes in Santa’s ear! And of course, no Christmas would becomplete without s’mores and marshmallows roasting on an open fire, and free hot chocolate and cider to warm your hands and soul.

For a real treat, join us for the Colorado Springs Chorale holiday performance held at the Cripple Creek Baptist Church. Additional entertainment includes musical groups performing special holiday favorites, and the popular holiday show “A Cripple Creek Christmas Carol & Holiday Olio,” performed at the Butte Theater.
