CRESSON ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL’S CORNER 04-17-12
There’s something about spring that makes me want to get things done. Maybe it’s the idea of the world awakening around me after a long winter slumber or the fact that all things in nature seem busy; the birds, the bees, the flowers and trees all seem to have an agenda. The same holds true for Cresson Elementary because our calendars are chocked full of upcoming events. Here’s what we have to look forward to: Challenger Learning Center will be visiting Cresson the week of April 23rd to provide our students with hands-on Space-related activities that are sure to be” out of this world”. During their visit, CLC will be setting up their Stellar Portal and enlightening our students with their Living in Space and Night Sky programs.
April 24th is our Administrative Assistant’s Day, also known as the “hardest working person in the school” day! A special thank you to Wanda Spoerl; Cresson’s Administrative Assistant, who goes above and beyond on a daily basis, happily meeting the needs of everyone our school serves. Our 6th grade students will be heading off to Sanborn Camp from April 30-May 2. The 6th graders have worked hard all year fundraising and preparing for an incredible “End of Elementary School” camp experience. During camp, students will participate in activities that foster cooperation, leadership, decision-making, problem-solving and a healthy lifestyle. Students will be surrounded by positive role-models and nature while creating memories that are sure to last a lifetime! It’s time for the Kindergarten Round-Up! If you have a child who will be at least 5 years old by Oct. 1st 2012, register them for Cresson’s free, full-day kindergarten program. Registration will be in the Cresson Art Room on Wednesday May 2nd from 8:00-11:00am. Please bring your child’s shot records, Birth Certificate & Social Security number.
